Woman in pain who needs root canal therapy

Root Canal Therapy

If you have a serious toothache, you might be worried you need to have the tooth pulled. Rest easy–there is an alternative.

Root canal treatment removes the infection from your root canals, restoring and protecting your tooth.

Our endodontic specialist at Marietta Dental Care in Los Algodones, Mexico, can restore the integrity of your tooth with root canal therapy.

What Can a Root Canal Treat?

Root canal therapy is a highly effective dental treatment that repairs severely infected teeth. If decay has not penetrated inside a tooth, a dental filling is often sufficient. But when bacteria has spread to the inner portion of a tooth and root canals, your dentist will likely recommend root canal treatment. Root canal treatment is a viable alternative to tooth extraction, even in teeth that have suffered significant damage or infection.

Same-Day Crowns, Sedation,  & Other Reasons to Choose Us

Most patients are anxious at the thought of root canal therapy. Although the procedure itself is painless due to local anesthesia, we also offer sedation to calm your nerves. Plus, we can often complete a root canal and place a crown in the same visit. Other reasons patients choose our practice include:

Endodontic Specialist

If you need root canal treatment, you want to make sure a specialist is handling your case. That's why we have an endodontist at our dental clinic. Our endodontist is specially trained in providing safe, effective root canal treatments and can help you achieve a stronger, healthier smile.

Quality Restorations

Sometimes a crown will need to be placed following a root canal to restore and protect the remaining structure of your tooth. We offer dental crowns in a variety of materials for you to choose from, including porcelain fused to metal, zirconium, IPS e.max®, and gold.

Affordable Prices

Our office is located in Los Algodones, MX, and many patients from the United States and Canada choose us because they can get the quality of care they need at a price they can afford. Our fees tend to be dramatically less than the clinics in the US and Canada, making our practice an attractive destination for medical tourism.

Root Canal Treatment What to Expect

During your free dental consultation at our Los Algodones practice, we will take X-rays of your teeth to confirm that a root canal procedure is the best dental service for you. We will also examine you for signs of infection, which could include, pain, an abscess, or a discolored tooth. You can generally expect the following steps on the day of your root canal procedure:

We offer free consultations and are transparent and straightforward about your treatment options.

Day of Procedure

We offer free consultations and are transparent and straightforward about your treatment options.

Numbing With Anesthesia

Your dentist will numb the treatment site with a local anesthetic for a virtually painless procedure.

Accessing the Pulp

The dentist will then create a small hole in the tooth to access the pulp inside of its structure, consisting of nerves, blood vessels, and other soft tissue.

Cleaning the Root Canals

We will remove the pulp from your root canals and sterilize the area to ensure the affected tissue is cleaned out.

Filling the Root Canals

After the pulp is removed, our dentist will fill the root canals with a rubber-like substance as a replacement for the pulp that was extracted.

Restoring the Tooth

After this step, we can often design, mill, and place a permanent dental crown while you wait. If you aren't a good candidate for a same-day crown, we can also create a permanent crown made of premium materials that will be available in about three weeks from our lab. We will place a temporary crown, allowing you to go back home with a protected and restored tooth if you choose to visit us from outside of Mexico.

What if My Tooth Can't Be Saved?

Sometimes, a badly damaged or infected tooth cannot be saved with this type of dental work. If a tooth extraction is necessary to protect your oral health, we can replace your extracted tooth with a dental implant at our Los Algodones practice. Implants are the only treatment that protects against the bone loss resulting from missing teeth.
